Who owns Fauxrates content? If all content submitted becomes the sole property of the devs (who, exactly?), then we run the risk of finding ourselves in the same situation SR is in if those devs disappear.
On the other hand, if we use a Creative Commons license the content is sure to survive (anyone with a server can revive it), but risk splintering into competing projects that may not have enough players and devs to survive.

If you want to keep it private, then we might as well go back to Skyrates right now: their code is playable.
Our advantage here -- our _sole_ advantage, in the long term -- is our ability to replace any one, or ten, or any number at all of people, so long as somebody is still interested.

I don't know if that's the response I'd propose — yes, their code is playable, but they don't care — we might not care either, in time, but we might also get farther. i think, if at the point where this does take off, it might behoove us/me to send out some contracts that you can all carefully look over, incorporate as an LLC, and take that forward.

I've done the LLC thing before and would be glad to lend a hand, if it comes to that.

Indeed, the best course forward is that the creator grants full commercial use/reproduction rights to the entity that is FR. That way the project owns everything regardless of who is working on the project.
