What's known of the History?

[History so far]

Just checking to see if I understand the history so far. If I miss anything let me know. And if anything is still undefined just let me know that, too, thanks.

Pre-Cataclysm World - Do we know anything about it? Do the factions predate the cataclysm?

Cataclysm occurs - How does the cataclysm itself occur? Islands are raised into the air, some are set afloat on the sea - how did this occur? How did people survive such a catastrophe?

Post-Cataclysm World - How did the factions assert themselves to maintain control and peace? I recall many smaller struggles in the chaos just after the Unobtainium explosion in Skyrates.

Current Times - I suppose all we have to go off of on current times are the current faction snapshots? What about the pirates? What are they like and how did they survive the cataclysm?

Was just fleshing out some ideas for the writing assignment and wanted to make sure I was aware of all that's out there/been decided.

Pre-Cataclysm: Very little has been set in stone, but the factions did not arise until after the cataclysm.

Cataclysm: Very few 'skylands' will exist, if any. The general idea is that much of the land mass has been blown away, leaving only the parts of land that were several thousand feet above sea level. Thus all the islands are on sheer cliffs, making air travel the only plausible alternative. As for the cataclysm itself, the only thing decided so far is that it occured during a worldwide war.

Post-Cataclysm: These questions have not yet been given a formal answer.

Current times: Consider the pirates malcontents who aren't happy with the way any of the nations run things and who feel they're better off on their own, trying to profit from anyone and anything. Pirates may not be the only antagonists you face in your career.
