One thing that bothers me about Skyrates is the mismatch, as I see it, between aircraft forms and abilities - aside from the whole anti-gravity/floating theme.
For example the CR-4P really looks much more useful than the Chapparal and the Halifax should be able to carry at least 6-7 crew.
So I would like to suggest that after the art work is complete the aircraft should be evaluated on their form and function with a nod toward similar real world examples.

I agree with this, as far as the normal-looking planes are concerned. No hammerspace Ingers!
Flying ships are alright though. It's the appearance/statistic discrepancy that bugs me.

I'd like to vote against allowing players to fly lighter-than-air craft. There just isn't any possible way they can survive combat.

Gameplay vs realism vs fun is something that needs to be constantly juggled, in my opinion. I will try to keep some form of realism, yes The mach 3, more than 2 max crew, 100 cargo Inger did sorta bother me... Kalin: Why not? Basically, they are bags filled with lighter than air gasses. Some of said gasses are flammable (Hindenburg) and some are not. Also, a lighter than air needs to worry a lot less about weight restrictions than a heavier than air... So its conceivable the gas bags are protected by armor. Add in advances in technology in a culture where people use flight constantly and didn't have airship disasters to pretty much kill the concept and a little handwavium....
